Examples
The use cases below showcase some ways in which you can use Respondus in your practice:
-
Manage assessment and feedback (Design online exams and organise security)
Assessment plagiarism checking – use Proctorio to invigilate remote assessments
As a teacher I can conduct remote examinations for assessment purposes with the ability to detect behaviours indicative of cheating, and thus encourage academic integrity.
My students can be reassured that the University can detect cheating so that their degree maintains credibility.
Example practice considerations when preparing to invigilate exams using Proctorio:
- To use Proctorio to support remote exam proctoring services, set the assignments and quizzes in exam mode using the CloudDeakin learning management system.
- Encourage highest standards of academic integrity by informing your students on the ability of Proctorio to:
- record the student, their audio and screen work while completing the assessment
- generate a report that lists any suspicious behaviour requiring investigation.
Assessment security – use Respondus to lockdown internet browsing during online examinations
As a teacher I can conduct online examinations for assessment in closed-book style, where my students cannot access other applications or webpages during the assessment.
My students can be reassured that the University has measures in place to prevent cheating.
Example practice considerations when preparing to invigilate exams using Respondus:
- Explain to students the required standards of academic integrity and inform them that Respondus will:
- be used as a customised browser in the online exam environment
- prevent students from accessing other applications, print, copy, or use other URLs, during a set time.
