Examples
The use cases below showcase some ways in which you can use H5P in your practice:
-
Knowledge Acquisition
Interactive study – active student learning of core concepts and self-testing of new knowledge
As a teacher I want to create purposeful interactive learning experiences that helps my students to master core concepts.
My students can engage with unit content asynchronously, test their knowledge, receive feedback, and repeat the process if desired.
Example design considerations when creating interactive study experiences using H5P:
- H5P helps you to create and share rich, interactive learning experiences using your own presentations with the ability to embed them into CloudDeakin.
- To help students to master core concepts in an asynchronous format, embed knowledge testing opportunities with formative feedback at key points in the content presentation.
- Knowledge checks with feedback loops help students to develop their knowledge and understanding through various activities, such as quizzes, charts, turning cards, drag and drop, branching scenarios, and more.
- Teaching teams can collectively develop or peer review H5P interactive content by using the add collaborators function in H5P.
-
Inquiry
Authentic scenario or case study analysis – student engagement with key ideas during inquiry-based learning
As a teacher I want my students to engage with an authentic scenario or case study, in a staged manner, which requires them to interpret new knowledge and apply core concepts to the unfolding situation.
My students can move through a structured learning experience, actively applying knowledge to authentic situations and receiving feedback as they advance.
Example design considerations for engagement with authentic scenarios/cases using H5P:
- Design or relay a sufficiently complex scenario or case which is relevant to consider and apply core learning concepts (e.g. ethical or other practice complications authentic to the discipline/industry sector).
- Create the scenario/case in video or presentation slides, in a manner that lets the situation unfold, with several points identified as key points for students to apply or test their learning.
- Integrate H5P into your scenario/case detail at the interaction points identified, e.g. ask questions for students to call upon their learning to select an answer or enter a response before resuming the presentation/video.
