Examples

The use cases below showcase some ways in which you can leverage CloudDeakin and the features within for assessment and feedback:

  • knowledge-iconManage Assessment and Feedback
Assignment drop box – prepare submission spaces for student assessment upload

As a teacher I can use the Assignment function in CloudDeakin to develop formative or summative assessments aligned to real-world problems, ready to manually grade and provide targeted feedback.

My students can apply key concepts to propose solutions to real-world problems and submit their assessments to receive feedback.

Example design considerations for preparing Assignment submission spaces in CloudDeakin:

  • Consider and prepare appropriate and fair restrictions when setting up a submission folder, including deadlines, number of files permitted, similarity reporting.
  • Plan how you will provide feedback in a way that students can use it to improve their performance.
Quiz preparation – provide a formative knowledge checkpoint

As a teacher I can build formative assessment activities with feedback so students can assess their conceptual understanding and access relevant support/extension materials.

My students can engage with the quizzes to receive formative feedback on their learning of core concepts, to self-assess areas where they may require study assistance.

Example design considerations for preparing Quizzes in CloudDeakin:

  • While quizzes can be used as summative assessment tasks, consider the advantages of using a quiz as a formative tool. Quizzes can be used to iteratively assess students conceptual understanding to help reinforce learning of core concepts.
  • Consider the most useful question types for your content, such as multiple-choice, multiple-answer, short-answer, written, or calculation-type questions.
  • Embed feedback and automatic grading for formative quiz activities.
  • Even if it takes a little longer to setup initially, ensure automated feedback is meaningful (e.g. “You may have chosen this answer as it relates to X, however, this has been disproven by Y. Recent developments indicate Z, for example, Smith and Nguyen (2020) page 45.”).
