Everyday Accessibility Basics (EAB)
Ensuring your digital resources and learning environments are accessible for all learners is one meaningful and impactful way you can approach inclusion in your teaching. Applying some basic accessibility principles into your unit site and online learning materials can help your learners navigate and find specific content more easily.
The Everyday Accessibility Basics were developed by Deakin educators to help you to increase the digital accessibility of resources you develop. When you apply these techniques consistently, it will make a significant difference for every learner. There are six areas that you can focus on – headings, links, tables, images, video and files.

Applying the Everyday Accessibility Basics
Depending on how much time you have available, there are three levels of action you can take – minimum, meaningful and consistent. Minimum refers to changes that are quick to do but have a big impact. Meaningful and consistent techniques are for those who have more time to make more changes. All three levels provide maximum impact to support the learner experience and success.

Minimum
Little tweaks and adjustments you can make when developing your resources.

Meaningful
Requires a little more thought and reflection about the purpose, context and how learning materials are accessed.

Consistent
Means you are applying accessibility techniques across multiple platforms, the same way consistently – or as much as is practicable.
