In this episode Joan had the pleasure of sitting down with Molly Herd and Sofia Paller to discuss the transformative Students Mentoring Staff Program at Deakin University. An initiative that has been designed to foster meaningful connections between staff and students and provide a platform for mutual growth and understanding.

One of the standout aspects of our conversation was the emphasis on the deep, meaningful connections formed through the mentoring program. Molly and Sofia shared personal stories that highlighted the positive impact these relationships have had on both staff and students. It’s not just about professional development; it’s about creating a supportive community where everyone feels valued and heard.

The benefits of the Students Mentoring Staff Program are vast and positive – from improved communication, better understanding of student needs, and the development of a supportive learning environment. Molly and Sofia emphasised how these benefits contribute to a more inclusive educational experience for all students, which is crucial in today’s diverse academic landscape.

Our conversation also ventured into the exciting realm of AI in higher education. We explored how AI technologies are transforming student interactions and the overall learning experience.
