Register to attend the 2022 Learning and Teaching Conference

Registrations for Deakin’s 2022 Learning and Teaching Conference are now open for Deakin staff. This year’s conference will be held in person over one day on Wednesday 9 November at Deakin Downtown. The conference is an opportunity to connect with the learning and teaching community at Deakin, to share our stories and celebrate our successes. Recordings of presentations will be made available for staff who are unable to attend the event.

The theme of this year’s conference is DeakinDesign: under the hood and will explore how we support and deliver learning and teaching at Deakin through the six practices of our new learning design framework, DeakinDesign.

The 2022 conference program

Professor Liz Johnson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic will open the conference, followed by a keynote from Professor Phillip Dawson from The Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE). In the keynote, ‘24 ways to address cheating’ Professor Dawson will use a ‘tier list’ diagram to discuss and rank the effectiveness of different approaches to addressing cheating.

The program includes sessions on each of the practice areas as well as some hot topics in learning and teaching including the outcomes of recent Open Educational Research projects, integrating GLO8 into the curriculum and how we use technology as we embrace hybrid learning post-COVID restrictions. The roundtable sessions will offer participants an opportunity to hear about work in progress and contribute their views and experiences. There will also be an exhibition of learning artefacts in the Deakin Downtown lobby. The conference will close with remarks from Liz Johnson and Professor Helen Partridge, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Teaching and Learning.
