Wrap-up of the 2022 Learning and Teaching Workshops
The Deakin Learning and Teaching Workshops took place on 31 March at Deakin Downtown and played host to over 70 attendees. The workshop format gave staff involved in learning and teaching a chance to come together to share, learn and reflect on their teaching practice in hands-on sessions. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to get together in person after several years of virtual events!
Ten workshops were held over the day covering a broad range of teaching and learning practices, including inclusive education with robust discussions around universal design in assessment, inherent requirements and providing rich and equitable learning experiences. Participants also had the opportunity to explore active learning in online environments and authentic learning opportunities such as the creation of a film festival or a global virtual optometry clinic.
Supporting students was a key theme throughout the day, with workshops exploring new ways of supporting students on virtual teaching placements or building mentoring capabilities in students. Staff were not to be left out, with workshops to support the use of open education resources and new tools to support professional learning.
If you missed the event but would like to know more, Deakin staff members can now access the slides of each workshop on the past conferences page on the conference website. And don’t forget to save the date for the 2022 Learning and Teaching Conference on 9 and 10 November 2022!
