Recognition
There were several reasons I applied for a HEA Fellowship. It was an opportunity to be benchmarked on my expertise and experience in higher education (HE), and being internationally recognised made it very appealing. Also, the undergraduate courses in our School are professionally accredited, so it just made sense that I should also have some sort of professional HE accreditation. Deakin were also offering to mentor us during the process, so the fact my employer was willing to invest in me was both a little flattering and gave me some reassurance that it wasn’t something I’d be doing all on my own.
